Salary from £23,697 to £31,424 per annum, pro rata

** Please note ** on 1 November 2018, it was announced by the government that the five councils in Buckinghamshire will become a Single Unitary Authority in April 2020 [Aylesbury Vale DC, Buckinghamshire CC, Chiltern DC, South Bucks DC and Wycombe DC]. Any changes made to the structure of local authorities in the County may affect council employees in the future. Therefore, the five councils have agreed to restrict applications to this position to current employees of the five councils for a period of fourteen days from Friday 22 November to Friday 6 December 2019. External candidates are welcome to submit their applications at any point, however, if a current employee applies during this seven day period, their application will be assessed prior to the council considering applications from external candidates.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to become a Street Warden.

The varied and interesting role of Street Warden will provide a professional and effective uniformed presence, working with colleagues from the Local Authority, Police, High Wycombe BIDCo, local communities and other partners to deter crime and tackle anti-social behaviour.

The role will involve foot patrols, engaging with local communities including partners and business communities to make their area safer. You will need to be fit and alert, have excellent communication skills, enjoy meeting people and relish working outdoors.

You will need to be able to compile accurate records, which are passed to relevant agencies and key stakeholders for attention, or to be used for prosecution. You will be required to carry out enforcement duties on a range of anti-social behaviour, including enforcing the Public Spaces Protection Orders and tackling begging and drug/alcohol issues within the town centre. It is essential that the post holders therefore have experience of dealing with conflict and difficult situations.

We are seeking applicants who are willing to work flexible hours, with some evening and weekend shifts required.

The role will benefit from powers under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) and applicants are required to pass Police vetting during the probation period.

Due to the nature of this post, it is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Scheme [DBS] vetting will be carried out.

We offer a generous benefits package including flexible working and pension scheme.
